Sculpture of Hal Green. Sculpture by Alexander Prokopenko. Pacific Grove Chamber of Commerce. Pacific Grove, California.
Foto by Host Jeddy Grant.
When my X-husband saw this image on facebook his comment to Jeddy was that the family of Harold Green would not like Jennifer posed on Hal's shoulder. Because POPS is good friends with the sculptor, I asked if Alex would mind. I got no reply. I had no idea who Hal Green was and googled him and this sculpture. I asked myself the question I ask with most of the pictures of the Girls in Public Places; Is this appropriate? Could I get in trouble for posting this? Can I cause damage?
How would Mr. Green feel about this if he were living? How would Alex feel? I learned that Mr. Green was married twice for over 25-years each time. He outlived both wives. I had to wonder how the first wife died, as she would have passed in her 50's or 60's. What if she died from something like breast cancer? I'll never know that answer. I got a peaceful feeling that Mr. Green would have enjoyed this attention.
Then I read that the bird placed on the end of the bench had been broken off and stolen. In the past I've been told in a couple locations that I could not take pictures because I was defacing the item. Long ago, I decided that there is a difference between causing damage and posing the bras. I am so careful with these images. I decided that in this case, this was a bench that people could sit on; therefore, it was fine to place Jennifer on the sculpture (I've seen kids climbing on him.) defacing would fall into the category of someone stealing the little blue.
