This is New Mexico's Centennial year. I sent Jennifer on her Journey with this lapel pin. It fell off three times (and I was grateful I fount it each time) I decided to glue all three pins down, both front and back, using a hot melt glue gun. I recommend that each host takes the time to glue their own BLING down. I am asking that each host give Jennifer a small pin or Bling.... a memento from her stay with them. Because Jennifer could get lost, it should be something inexpensive. It could be handmade, it could make a statement for a cause they believe in, it could be an old piece of jewelry, it could be a souvenir pin from a place they visited (I paid $5.95 for this one) It should either represent them or the area they live in. One pin is all I request, but a second pin is certainly acceptable.
I gave Jennifer three. I wished I had something that said, "Sisterhood of the Traveling Bras." I'll work on creating something--and get it to Jen along the way. (Jennifer really needs a tag that says, "Hi, my name is Jennifer, if you find me, please return me to: PO Box 12413, Albuquerque, New Mexico, 87195-0413....) Anyway, Jennifer has three. The Centennial pin which is about WHERE she was and when. A little American Flag pin because this journey started in the USA around the time of year we celebrate our independence (and isn't that what she is doing in her travels? However.... Jennifer was not made in the USA, but in Thailand....) And she has the butterfly pin which I fastened at her own cross-road in the front, close to "heart." The butterfly is about beauty and capturing the moment. it is about freedom and flight. it represents the Sisterhood.... and so many things. I bought the little pin in the late 70's, when I was in high school, because I went thru a butterfly phase. I had a poster with a watercolor looking butterfly resting on a flower the message read, "If you love something, set it free. If it returns to you, it was meant to be."

***I just had one of those "light-bulb" moments! I am going to go to PetSmart and buy Jennifer one of the dog tags that have the pets name and address. Then Jen can either make a quick stop here in ABQ or I can mail it to her host and have them stitch it on. I also checked SMUG stuff and I could get a photo key chain? Hopefully, I can do that before she heads overseas.***
