The Sisterhood of the Traveling Bras is a photography project. It is about so many things. The bra is an icon for women and femininity--but the bra is so much more. often kept undercover, discreet, offering support..... It is about being a woman and the issues women confront. It is about Indigo's personal journey thru her middle years. It is about opening up, being on display, having fun, breaking taboos. These images are meant to be both thoughtful and fun. I try to avoid making HUGE political statements or getting to much into supporting causes, but those issues and causes are part of what the Sisterhood is about. I hope to keep the images tasteful, but occasionally there may be under currents and innuendo. This project is truly what my viewers make it to be....

A reminder to me from Jennifer that on the inside we are all alike :-) (sort of)

Posting late today because I just took this one.

I am asking everyone if they would like to host Jennifer. I won't be offended if you say no or ignore the request. It never hurts to ask.

Jennifer really enjoyed looking thru old photo albums while we were in Utah.

This is the cover of Rae Gardner's album.

Jen meets the Big Ben.

Every trip to Utah has to include a stop or two or three at Burger Bar. There was no where to easily hang Jen for a picture, so Jeddy jumped in and took a picture with her. Jeddy was thrilled the day before when he found the tux jacket at a thrift store.

While on our road-trip Jennifer visited a shooting range. Apparently she is now a member of the NRA, because the bling my dad pinned on her is an NRA pin. This isn't necessarily a statement of the Sisterhood's personal beliefs. When I started Jennifer on her journey I invited all hostes to give her some bling which could be anything--just a piece of old jewelry one has lying around the house, something that is from your area of the world, something that makes a statement--such as the pink breast cancer awareness ribbon.....Jennifer is not about just one person, but people everywhere at this time in history. My dad also gave her a 2012 Republican Party Victory pin. Both pins have historical significance and are very welcome to this project by Jennifer and me.

I've been so sick or busy or away that i have not had time to contact a few of the people who had said they might be interested in Jennifer visiting with them after the first of the year.... I am still seeking more hosts to keep Jennifer moving along. If you would like to host Jennifer or want more info, please, contact me at gardner@unm.edu.

Smile and say, "Cheese." (cloth)

Jennifer received some amazing BLING in her travels. I need to take her to school with me and buy her some UNM bling, but could anything ever compete with the massive, sparkly Texas A&M pin. And having lived in Wyoming once, the WY pins have a connection to me.

This is just a small assortment of the BLING. My goal is for Jennifer to be covered in mementos before she comes home.

Jennifer needs more sponsors. If anyone can host her it would be appreciated. You can contact me at gardner@unm.edu Thanks!
